EL JOCKEY / KILL THE JOCKEY (2024)

Best Film – San Sebastian International Film Festival – Latin Horizons

Remo Manfredini is a once‑legendary jockey whose career is crumbling due to substance abuse and poor decisions. He and his fellow jockey—and pregnant girlfriend—Abril work for a powerful mobster named Sirena.

On what could be the race that clears Remo of his debts, tragedy strikes: he accidentally kills a prized racehorse in a horrific accident. After being hospitalized with a concussion, Remo flees—eluding both Sirena’s henchmen and the authorities—and vanishes into the nocturnal streets of Buenos Aires.

Disguised in a mink coat and adopting the name “Dolores,” Remo embarks on a surreal odyssey of self‑discovery, exploring identity, gender expression, and the meaning of freedom. Meanwhile, Abril races against time—and Sirena’s wrath—to find Remo before it’s too late.

The film defies conventional genre boundaries, blending neo‑noir, psychological drama, surrealism, and dark comedy into a bold, idiosyncratic vision.

“A mercurial, skittish crime drama whose hero is a drug-fuelled rogue”
